Amman is a metropolitan with people visit here from all over the world. To cater to the various taste buds, you can find many different styles of restaurants, from traditional Middle Eastern fare to more familiar Western fast food franchises. Arabic food is obviously the most common and is also very affordable.
Arabic food generally consists of rice, flat bread, along with meat dishes (lamb or chicken; beef is rare and pork is never offered). Shwarma, a local favorite, is cooked lamb meat with a sauce rolled in piece of flat bread. Mansaf is a delicious lamb and rice meal. You will also be served plenty of cucumber and tomatoes as salads often with yoghurt. Chick pea-based foods such as falafel, hummus, and fuul are loved by most foreigners too.
And for those caffeine addicts, this is where you will find a wide variety of beans and roasts…so make sure there’s plenty of space in your bags to take home some.

Getting in: Amman is serviced by the Queen Alia International Airport situated 32km south of Amman.
Getting Around:
Amman is a relatively small city and is easy to negotiate. You can hire one of the metered private taxis or shared taxis that cover only fixed routes. But walking is by far the best way to get around and the locals are usually very friendly and helpful regarding directions.
Climate:
Since the city lies on a plateau, the weather is usually quite cool. Summers are relatively warm but the frequent breezes and low humidity make it much more tolerable, and evenings are almost always cool. The weather here is typical of Mediterranean climate. Winter can get very chilly with temperatures going down to 0 degrees Celsius and sometimes even below freezing bringing some snow. Spring and fall temperatures are extremely pleasant and mild. Most rain falls between October and March. The most popular months to visit Amman are April to November.
Language:
Arabic is the official language although English is understood by most people.
